Hi!

Welcome to my webshop ♥

I'm Johanna, a ceramist from Gothenburg, Sweden. I work from a small studio in the basement of our house, where I live with my husband, two small kids, and two cats.

I mainly make functional stoneware - cups, bowls, butter keepers, vases, egg trays; things made to be used every day, not saved for special occasions.

Most of what I make is wheel-thrown, one piece at a time. That means no two are identical, and I think that's worth keeping. A set of cups doesn't have to match exactly, I'd rather cherish the differences between them, the proof that they were made by my own hands.

My core series works in soft, calm glazes, but alongside it I run experiments that go somewhere less predictable: layered horizons, iron greens, drips that pool where they want to. The quiet pieces and the expressive ones live together in the same practice, and I think they're better for it.

There's a Japanese influence running through the work - the yunomi form, the ikebana tradition, the idea that an object can be both useful and considered without being precious about it. But I grew up in Scandinavia, and that shows too; in the restraint, the practicality, the preference for things that earn their place on the table.

I hope you find something you love. And if you have questions or want to talk about a custom order - I love working on commissions, making something specific for a specific person - don't hesitate to reach out ♥
